Apple announced a new service program to fix iPhone 14 Plus phones that have rear cameras that won’t show a preview.
Here is Apple’s detailed description of the impacted phones, as stated on the service program page:
Apple has assessed that the rear camera on a minimal number of iPhone 14 Plus units may display no preview. Devices impacted were produced from April 10, 2023, to April 28, 2024.
If your iPhone 14 Plus is impacted — and you can check your serial number on the program page to find out if it is — Apple states that either they or an Authorized Service Provider will repair your phone at no cost. If you’ve previously covered the cost for a camera repair, Apple advises contacting them to inquire about a potential refund.
This initiative will include qualifying phones for a period of three years following their initial sale.
Apple periodically introduces these kinds of service initiatives to provide repairs for its devices, such as a program to address issues with receivers on iPhone 12 or 12 Pro models and another to resolve crackling or static noise issues with AirPods Pro.
