The Trump team has responded to news that the president-elect advised Russia’s Putin against ramping up the conflict in Ukraine.

Trump’s team is asserting that global leaders recognize America is on the path to reclaiming its position of influence in the world.

While his transition team hasn’t confirmed or denied reports, it seems that during a recent call, Trump may have advised Russian President Vladimir Putin against escalating the war in Ukraine.

According to The Washington Post, this conversation took place last Thursday and was their first chat since Trump secured his return to the Oval Office last week.

Reportedly, Trump took the call from Florida and reminded Putin about the U.S. military presence in Europe while emphasizing that peace should be the ultimate goal for Europe.

He also expressed a wish for quick discussions regarding a resolution to Ukraine’s conflict.

When Fox News reached out for comments on this report, Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, stated they typically don’t discuss private conversations between Trump and other world leaders but emphasized that Trump had won a significant election and that international leaders are eager to strengthen ties with him because he symbolizes global peace and stability.

This statement follows shortly after a senior Ukrainian official revealed that billionaire Elon Musk participated in a call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy just two days ago.

Musk’s unexpected involvement during this initial conversation might hint at his potential influence within Trump’s upcoming administration.

While specific details about Musk’s role weren’t shared, sources indicated he plans to continue backing Ukraine through his Starlink satellite service—crucial for their communications during wartime.

Throughout his campaign, Trump has been somewhat skeptical about ongoing U.S. support for Ukraine and has pushed for a speedy resolution to its issues with Russia—a stance that’s raised some eyebrows across Europe.

During their 25-minute chat, he reassured Zelenskyy of support but didn’t delve into specifics regarding policies or military assistance. Axios was first to report on Musk’s participation in this call, but so far, Musk hasn’t commented on it.

It looks like this phone call is just the beginning of a series of discussions between Trump’s team and Zelenskyy’s advisors. They’re both figuring out how the U.S. fits into the current conflict.
