The Kamal Adwan Hospital, located in northern Gaza, urges global organizations to safeguard the hospital against assaults from Israeli military forces.
Israeli strikes have resulted in the deaths of over 40 Palestinians throughout Gaza, including a drone assault on individuals gathered at a café in the al-Mawasi area, which had previously been marked as a safe zone by the Israeli military.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that at least 10 civilians lost their lives late Monday due to a dual missile strike from an Israeli drone targeting a small tent café situated west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
This incident further illustrates that Israel’s assertions regarding evacuation zones and safe spaces are mere fabrications, according to Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud, who is reporting from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
The café serves as a place for people to access the internet and watch football games on large screens. During the attack, witnesses noted it was crowded with patrons inside when two missiles struck.
Victims transported to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis were described as severely disfigured, with seven individuals undergoing surgery for their injuries.
Earlier reports from health officials at al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat indicated that 20 people died during multiple air and ground assaults on Monday; this included Israeli tanks advancing into the Nuseirat refugee camp from the west and firing upon residents and displaced families attempting to escape.
A local witness recounted how the tank shelling took many residents by surprise, leaving some trapped indoors while others fled with whatever belongings they could carry. Zaik Mohammad, 25, who lives about half a mile from the targeted area, described chaotic scenes as people rushed out.
In Beit Lahiya, located in northern Gaza where Israeli forces have imposed a blockade since early October, medics reported four fatalities due to an airstrike.
Additional casualties occurred during an air raid in Gaza City. Furthermore, an Israeli drone targeted Kamal Adwan Hospital near Beit Lahiya, injuring three medical personnel according to health workers’ accounts.
Reporting from Deir el-Balah, Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum stated that the hospital has called upon international organizations for protection amid ongoing attacks.
He noted that there has been a significant escalation of assaults across northern Gaza since early this morning—particularly around Kamal Adwan Hospital and near central market areas within Gaza City—where Israeli forces have issued new evacuation orders.
Since hostilities erupted last year following Hamas’s attack on October 7th—which resulted in approximately 1,139 deaths in southern Israel—Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that at least 43,603 Palestinians have died due to Israeli military actions against the enclave.
Terrifying and appalling offenses
At a joint summit of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Saudi Arabia on Monday, Arab and Muslim nations expressed their strong condemnation of the appalling and shocking actions carried out by Israel during its military operations in Gaza.
In their statement, the leaders denounced the Israeli military’s conduct in the region, highlighting atrocities such as genocide in northern Gaza over recent weeks, which included acts of torture, executions, forced disappearances, and ethnic cleansing. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia firmly stated that the kingdom unequivocally opposes the genocide targeting the Palestinian people.
