Google introduces the new Gemini app for iPhone, featuring Gemini Live.

Since February, Gemini has been integrated into the Google Search app, but it has now evolved into a separate application for iPhone users.

This means you can find a dedicated Gemini icon on your iPhone’s home screen, eliminating the need to navigate through the Google app or utilize the Search widget shortcut.

The user interface of Gemini on iOS has been updated to align with its Android counterpart, featuring a minimalist home screen that greets users with Hello, echoing the straightforward design of Google Search.

You can easily access your Chats & Gems conversation history in the upper-left corner, while the text input area has been streamlined to simply say Ask Gemini.

Google markets this app as both a study aid and an image generator powered by Imagen 3, allowing users to take photos and attach them to their queries. With Gemini Extensions, you can pull information from various first-party services like YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, and Calendar.

Notably, this release introduces Gemini Live on iPhone after its launch on Android in September; it enables natural conversations where you can interrupt Gemini for questions or new topics.

Additionally, a Live Activity feature allows interaction with Gemini Live even when using other apps or when your iPhone is locked. Users can select from ten different voices for all responses from Gemini.

At launch, supported languages include English, Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Arabic, Italian, Indonesian, Japanese, Turkish and Vietnamese.

The free Google Gemini app is now available in 35 languages globally through the App Store starting today. If preferred, users can still access Gemini via the Google app or mobile web platform.
